Strasbourg climbed back into 2nd place of French Ligue 2 after defeating Tours 4-2 on Tuesday. They are hoping to make it two wins in four days when 15th placed Clermont come for a visit to Stade de la Meinau tonight.
The home side should be hopeful as they have the best home record of any team in the division and are on odds to claim their 7th straight home win here. In 6 of those games, in fact the last 6, they have scored 2 goals or more, and it seems like Thierry Laurey has finally got his team playing the way he wants after taking over as coach at the start of the season.
They have plenty of players scoring goals and are not over reliant on one striker to come up with the goods. So despite top scorer Khailid Boutaib missing the game against Tours, they were still able to find the net no less than four times.
Clermont are struggling at the moment and are winless in their last 6 league games. They are now dangerously close to the relegation zone and could be in for a real fight to stay in the division. Having conceded 8 goals in their last 3 away games it looks like they could be in for a very difficult evening against a free scoring home side.
Thomas Guerbert is still out injured and there are doubts over the participation of Michel Espinosa and Marc-Aurele Caillard.
