Swansea’s hope of bouncing straight back up to the Premier League is becoming slimmer and slimmer as they are now nine points behind Bristol City on the last playoff spot, and they really need a good run during the last 12 games of the season. A win at home to lowly Bolton today is a must and chances for that should be more than good. The Welch side have been excellent when playing at home at Liberty Stadium lately and have four wins and a draw in their last five home games in all competitions.
The team’s top scorer Oli McBurnie is in red hot form and has scored 8 goals in his last 9 games for the club.
Swansea will still be without Leroy Fer, Martin Olsson and Joe Rodon, but have otherwise a fully fit squad.
Bolton are in deep trouble, both on and off the field. They are second bottom in the league and have serious financial problems, with players’ wages possibly not being paid out. Not exactly the ideal preparations to face an in form home side.
They have only collected four points from their last 10 games on the road, while only scoring 12 goals in 17 away games. They have actually scored the least amount of goals of any team in the league with 22 in 34 games.
Bolton are travelling without suspended midfielder Jason Lowe and injured goalkeeper Ben Alnwick. Marc Wilson could also be out.
We see this as an excellent opportunity for Swansea to keep their playoff hopes alive.
