Workington vs Matlock Town
Workington go confidently into tonight’s game after claiming an important 1-0 win away to fellow play-off contenders Ashton United on Saturday. The win leaves the Reds only a point behind the Robins in the last play-off spot with only two games left to play of the season. After two straight defeats the win on Saturday was a must, and they probably have to win their remaining two league games as well to have a chance of clinching that playoff spot. The home side’s Scott Allison scored his 24th goal of the season against Ashton and could be the deciding factor again tonight.
Team news: Anthony Right is out as well as long-term absentee Phil McLuckie but midfielder Robbie Hebson is set to return to action.
Matlock Town played their their fourth game in only seven days on Saturday when they faced title chasing Blyth Spartans. It was also a tired looking outfit that went down 2-0 to a superior opponent and they now have to regroup for another game tonight, their fifth in 11 days. On a positive note Matlock have already secured their place in the league next season and as a result have nothing to play for at the moment.
Team news: Midfielder Laurie Wilson is out for the season and both Danny Holland and Nicky Travis missed the game against Blyth and are doubtful.
