Albion Rovers – Partick Thistle
Albion Rovers have had a tough start to the season with rather heavy defeats in the Betfred League Cup against Ayr (0-2) and Stenhousemuir (0-4) so far. It definitely won’t get any easier tonight when they welcome Championship side Partick Thistle to Cliftonhill.
Albion were relegated from League One last season which resulted in several key players leaving the club during the summer. There have been some replacements, but judging from the first couple of cup games, it’s not going to be smooth sailing this season either.
Partick Thistle were relegated from the Premiership last season after losing out in the playoffs against Livingston. It looks however like they have gathered a decent squad and hopefully will fight at the top of the Championship table. The start of the season has been excellent with two straight cup wins against Stenhousemuir (2-0) and Morton (2-1).
It should get a bit easier tonight and with exciting young new signings like Jack Storer (Solihull Moors) and Shea Gordon (Motherwell) as well as Blair Spittal, who impressed for the club already last season, things could get exciting for the Jags this season.
It should also be mentioned that Partick have had an extra few days of rest coming into tonight’s clash, and we believe the visitors are just way too strong here.
