Auxerre vs Valenciennes
Auxerre are in back in action again after a short winter break and warmed up with a 1-0 win over Orleans in friendly last week. The club’s goal is promotion this season and now sitting 8th in the table, 9 points adrift Dijon in 2nd, they need to start racking up wins. Home form has been quite good this season and they are looking to make it three in a row when struggling Valenciennes come for a visit tonight. We believe chances are good they will be able to do just that.
Team news: Diarra, Seck, Fontaine and Gragnic will be missing in tonight’s squad for the home team.
Valenciennes have as expected struggled this season and find themselves drawn into a relegation battle. They are currently in 17th place in the table, just above the relegation zone and are on a 7 matches winless run. Away from home they have three losses in a row and are the only team in the league not to win when leaving home comfort. They were also knocked out in the cup by div 5 team Sarreguemines FC on Sunday so there seems to be no turn in form, not yet at least.
Team news: Valenciennes are facing an injury crisis with no less than 11 players out for various reasons. Abdelhamid, Azbague, Butin. Ciss, Diarra, Jost, Nda, Nery, Nguette, Roudet, Faustin and Kaboré will all have to watch this one from the stands.
