Bordeaux – FC Sion
Bordeaux have not exactly had a positive start to the season and find themselves 14th in the table after 10 rounds of Ligue 1. Certainly not good enough for a club aiming for a spot in the top 5. A lot of it has been down to injuries though and with only Sertic and Maurice-Belay left in the rehab room, things are looking brighter. In the Europa League they have drawn two times, against Rubin Kazan away and Liverpool at home, and they need to start winning their home games in order to proceed to the next round. At home they are always more comfortable and the fans will be expecting three points tonight.
FC Sion is the surprise package so far and top group B with four points after two rounds. The Swiss side only made it to the Europa League by winning the domestic cup and no one really expected them to be good enough to have this kind of start. After a win at home to Rubin Kazan they claimed a point away to weakened Liverpool side. Still quite impressing, especially considering they are struggling in the league where they have managed only one point in the last four games.
Tonight’s game is somewhat a decider for the fate of Bordeaux in Europe this season. We believe they have a good enough squad to claim all three points against a fairly poor visitor side with poor form.
