Forest Green Rovers vs Torquay United
Forest Green are out for revenge when they take on Torquay in the first game of 2016 in the Vanarama National League. The two teams met at Torquay on Boxing Day where the home side surprisingly trashed the visitors 4-1. Since then Forest Green have gotten back to winning ways by comfortably defeating Kidderminster 3-0 while Torquay lost 0-1 at Cheltenham. FGR have been very solid at The New Lawn this season where they have 11 wins and a draw in 14 outings and are looking for their sixth straight home win today.
Team news: James Jennings and Aaron O’Connor are ruled out due to illness but Dale Bennett is looking to start his second consecutive game after returning to the line-up against Kidderminster after his injury.
Torquay have only recorded 20 points from the first half of the season (26 games) and sit 23rd in the table, 6 points from safety. They have however showed improved performances in their last two outings and there’s a bit more confidence in the squad at the moment. They still have long way to go if they are to stay in the division and they need to start to start winning games, especially at home. They have only picked up a single point in their last three away games and will likely find it hard today against a highly motivated home side.
Team news: Defender Angus MacDonald is returning to the squad after a two-match suspension but key central midfielder Courtney Richards is unavailable as he picked up a red card in the defeat to Cheltenham on Monday.
This is the third game in seven days for the two teams and we believe the home side have a squad able to handle the busy schedule slightly better.
