Harlow vs Canvey Island
Harlow Town continue their hunt for the promotion playoff spots when they take on lowly Canvey Island for the first game of the new year this afternoon. Harlow were only promoted last season, but with strong financial backing and a squad that is looking more than decent, they actually have an outside chance of making it consecutive promotions. If they are to do so they need to improve their away form though, where they have only won twice in 14 tries. At Harlow Arena it’s been a different story and plenty of positives. In fact, they have the best home record in the league with 9 wins in 11 league outings so far.
The Hawks have an exciting mix of experience and youth in the team and the necessary funds to improve it. They are and should be the clear favorites today.
Canvey Island sit bottom of the table and are winless in their last 6 league outings. Away from home they have 7 losses and only one win in their last 10 games. Not the kind of statistics you want to bring to the league’s strongest home team.
Canvey were able to claim a point away to Sudbury on New Year’s Eve, but we believe the short rest and another trip away from home will take its toll.
