It’s local derby night tonight as Notts County welcome Mansfield Town to Meadow Lane. The Magpies are looking to maintain their perfect start to the season under new manager Ricardo Moniz, after a 2-1 win at Stevenage on opening day also knocking Huddersfield out of Capital One Cup on Tuesday night. The Dutchman took the reigns in april and has since made a complete overhaul of the squad in an effort to bring the club straight back to League One. Moniz’s teams are known for always playing aesthetically pleasing football where the main focus is on the offensive rather than defense. They have to do without defenders Gil Swerts and Mawouna Amevor tonight but have plenty of firepower going forward.
Mansfield are in a similar situation with a new manager and plenty of new players. They just escaped the drop last season and new boss Adam Murray hopes to improve on that performance this season. Stags drew with Carlisle on opening day and are sweating on the fitness of striker Matt Green for tonight’s game. Defender Lee Collins is definitely out.
