Panthrakikos – AEK Athens
Panthrakikos is the only team not to record a win in the Greek Super League this season, a 10 matches long winless streak. With two draws and three losses at home they also have the second worst home record in the league. The point away to PAOK in the last round was a step in the right direction but it also came at a heavy cost as central defender Soyfane Chefra was sent of in the closing minutes and will serve a suspension tonight. Cristos Tzanis and Igor didn’t train with the team and probably won’t feature either and Nicolas Diguiny participation is doubtful.
AEK Athens are finally back in the top tier of Greek football after spending the last few years in the lower divisions due to financial issues. They started the season in a real good fashion but a 0-4 defeat to Olympiacos and a dispute between coach Traianos Dellas and the board led the former to be sacked. Gus Poyet has now been installed as the new manager on a contract until the summer. Things started out well with a point away to Panathinaikos but a defeat at home to Asteras Tripolis in the last round has not left the fans happy. There’s plenty of quality in the squad and a game against bottom placed Panthrakikos could be the perfect way to get back on track again.
