FC Viitorul vs CS U Craiova

FC Viitorul are doing well under former Romanian international and legend Georghe Hagi and sit fourth in the table, only six point behind leaders Steaua Bucharest, with one game in hand. At home they are unbeaten in their last six outings in all competitions, including four wins. They have also defeated tonight’s opponents Voluntari in their last four matches head-to-head and should be the favorites to make it five in a row. Team news: Hagi has basically a fully fit squad of players to choose from. The only worry is Christian Ganea who is a doubt but should be able to play. Voluntari are going through a difficult period and their poor performance overall (9th in the league) has led the club to take the controversial decision to penalize the players by not paying out wages. It’s hard to see that it will have the desired effect on the players even if they knocked a poor Clinceni side out of the cup on Wednesday. Team news: Voluntari boss Dinu Todoran have to do without goalkeeper Mircea Bonrescu as well as top scorer Petre-Daniel Ivanovici. FC Viitorul, under the guidance of former superstar Georghe Hagi, are in a good position to win the Romanian top division for the first time in the club’s short history this season. The team, mainly made up by players from club’s successful youth academy, are topping the Championship Round table after impressive wins over Astra and FCSB and a draw with Dinamo.

Today they take on 5th placed CS U Craiova and Hagi is confident his team is good enough for another three points here. And who are we to doubt the old master, especially since his team only dropped seven points in total at home during the whole regular season.

Viitorul has no injuries or suspensions to worry about for tonight’s clash.

CS U Craiova were showing signs of fatigue as they were run over by CFR Cluj in a 1-4 home loss on Saturday. Hence, focus has been on recovery during the week and they are hoping to be fit enough to at least put up a fight.

To make matters worse they are missing a couple of key players in injured defenders Popov and Briceag as well as suspended top scorer Andrei Ivan.

We believe the home side is just a bit too strong here.
