Barcelona B vs Espanyol B
Barcelona B have gone through a near complete revamp of the squad in the January transfer market. In the 2-0 win away to Pobla Mafumet on Sunday, only goalkeeper Ortolá was left from the team that suffered defeat to Olimpic de Zativa in the beginning of the month. The home side are dangerously close to the relegation zone and the club felt it needed some new faces to ensure they avoid the drop. Notable improvements to the squad have been defender Moisés Delgado who joins from Sevilla B, midfielder Fali Jiménez and Xemi from Gimnastic Tarragona and Cornella respectively as well as promising striker Dani Romera who links up from Almeria. The new look team started with a 0-0 draw at home to 5th placed Cornella and followed up with a 2-0 win tato Pobla Mafumet. They now have a good mix of experience and youth and are likely to quickly climb the table in the coming weeks.
Team news: Striker Jean Marie Dongou have departed to Real Zaragoza and will obviously not feature.
Espanyol B are along with Olot the only team that haven’t won a single game away from home this season. Espanyol boss Lluis Planaguma is aware of the strength of the new look Barca B side and still believe that the new players will bring such quality they are now candidate for promotion already this season. The Espanyol boss has a very young squad, with several players under 20 years old, and we believe they will struggle against a rejuvenated home side.
Team news: The away side will be without first choice goalkeeper Andres as well as defenders Marc Navarro, Franco Russo and Cristian Galas.
