Basel vs Lech Poznan
Basel were left heavily disappointed after being knocked out in the last stage of the Champions League qualifiers by Maccabi Tel-Aviv. They will however not take the Europa League lightly as they are eager to make the final in May which will be played their home ground St. Jakob-Park. They started the group stage in great fashion by defeating Serie A league leaders Fiorentina 2-1 away from home. Tonight Basel boss Urs Fischer has to deal with quite a few injuries, especially in defense, but the replacements are more than decent and 37-year old former Inter player Walter Samuel might get a start. Up front Marc Janko will lead the way along with 18-year old Breel Embolo. Together they have already scored 9 goals in 7 games this season.
Lech Poznan have had a miserable start to Polish Ekstraklasa and are bottom of the table with only five points after 10 rounds. Their Europa League campaign started only slightly better with a lackluster 0-0 draw against Portuguese side Belenenses. The focus is now on turning things around in the league and there might be rotation in the starting eleven tonight.
The two teams have already played in the Champions League qualifiers this year, Basel winning both home and away. We believe the hosts are highly motivated and facing a Lech Poznan side low in confidence will be enough for three new points.
