Frome vs Cirencester
After three wins and a draw in their last four league games, Frome Town have closed the gap on the promotion playoff spots in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division. They are now only four points behind Merthyr Town in fifth, with one game in hand, and have an excellent opportunity to make it a single point when facing lowly Cirencester tonight. After impressive away wins at Hayes & Yeading and Dunstable, the Robins are now back at Special Effect Stadium where they are undefeated in their last seven league games.
Before the season started Frome were favourites to go down, but they been the surprise package of the league and are now looking up rather than down the ladder. In order to make that happen they have bolstered their squad in recent weeks with the likes of Ollie Knight from tonight’s opponents Cirencester. Judging by their performances lately we believe they might actually have a chance to claim one of the playoff spots.
Cirencester are in a bit of a free fall at the moment, having lost four of their last five league outings, including a 1-6 trashing at home to Kettering. Last time out they lost 1-2 to second bottom Cambridge City and they are now dangerously close to the relegation zone.
The visitors have only won 2 away games all season and it’s likely not on their travels they will pick up the points to stay in the division. At least not for now.
