Norway vs Hungary
Norway take on Hungary in the first playoff tie of two in the quest for European Championship participation in France next year. The Norwegians had a good qualifying campaign by their standards and only missed out on an automatic place in the last round as they lost away to Italy. Throughout the campaign, goal scoring has been a problem but the emergence of Markus Henriksen, who has scored 7 goals in 12 outings for AZ Alkmaar, could well be the solution to the problem. Norwegian boss Per-Mathias Høgmo has selected players mainly on form which means Strømsgodset striker Marcus Pedersen could start alongside Alexander Søderlund in attack. All in all there’s a positive mood in the home side and confidence is high.
Hungary came in third after Northern Ireland and Romania in a group that in all honesty was quite poor. Hungary haven’t qualified for a major tournament since 1986 and hope to end that drought this time around. It will be a difficult task for the Hungarians to break down the strong Norwegian defense though and they are putting their hopes to Sporting Kansas City striker Krisztian Nemeth. We don’t think it will be enough and believe the Norwegians to be just a little bit too strong here.
