Oxford City – Luton
Oxford City face Luton Town tonight in their second pre-season friendly tonight as they prepare for the upcoming season. They were thumped 1-5 in their first friendly on Saturday against a strong Oxford United team, but should have a much better chance tonight against a young Luton side.
Despite the heavy loss there were plenty of positives, and City boss Mark Jones will not be too disappointed with his teams’ efforts. Especially star striker Matt Paterson looked lively up front and is hoping to build on his first season at the club in which he scored 27 times.
Luton had to re-shuffle their friendly schedule this week after returning from training camp in Slovenia. This means they will send their Under-18s, including some young professionals, to play Oxford City tonight while the senior squad play Chesham United tomorrow. A tough ask for the youngsters indeed.
We believe this will be a good opportunity for the home side to record their first pre-season win.
