Pipinsried – Wacker Burghausen
Pipinsried just about managed to avoid the relegation playoffs in their first season in Regionalliga Bayern and head into this season with great uncertainty. They’ve had a major overhaul of the squad during the summer where no less than 13 players have left the club and 14 new players have joined.
It is obvious that it will take some time for the coaches to get everyone working together as a team, and it didn’t start too well in the season opener which they lost 1-5 away to Greuter Fürth II. A very difficult season is to be expected.
Things are looking brighter in the Wacker Burghausen camp, and the team started the season with a nice 2-1 win over Ingolstadt II. New signing Lukas Aigner (1860 Munich) scored on his debut and showed that he will be a real asset for the team this season.
Apart from Manuel Omelanowsky who is injured, coach Schellenberg has everyone else fit and raring to go.
Both meetings between the two teams ended in draws last season, but we believe Burghausen have the upper hand here.
