Port Vale vs Carlisle
Port Vale go into tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash with Carlisle United with the goal of progressing. The Valiants have had a decent start to the season and sit comfortably in mid-table of League One. Manager Rob Page insists that even though the league is the main objective, he’s taking this competition seriously despite considering making some changes to his starting eleven. He could hand new signing Jak McCourt, who has joined for a 1 month loan from Leicester, his debut tonight and Byron Moore should also be fit to play despite coming off against Bradford on Saturday.
League Two side Carlisle has on the other hand started their season in an uninspired way. Despite that coach Keith Curle will likely ring the changes tonight and let his fringe players get some playing time. The game will also come too soon for injured couple Charlie Wyke and David Atkinson and top scorer Jabo Ibehre is likely to be rested.
We believe Port Vale have enough fire power to put at least two past a struggling League Two side.
