Real Madrid have already secured the top spot in the Champions League Group A as they take on Swedish side Malmö FF in the last round of the group stage. They might already have sealed the group win but Rafa Benitez knows that his side cannot afford anymore slip-ups if he is to remain in charge as disappointment among the fans grow. After a few difficult weeks they were back to their best on the weekend in a 4-1 league win against Getafe, a game which saw Karim Benzema back among the goal scorers. Benitez will rest a few of players tonight, including Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Keylor Navas, but Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to be included in the starting lineup as he looks to extend his lead in the all-time goal scorers list in the Champions League. Needless to say, Malmö will have their hands full.

Malmö FF need to get a better result than Shakhtar Donetsk, who face PSG away, in order to make it into the Europa League. Not an easy task as the Swedish outfit is in off-season and haven’t played a competitive game since their last Champions League outing with PSG a couple of weeks ago. In the domestic league they haven’t had a game since 3 November, so there are definitely doubts about the team’s match fitness. They are also missing star striker Markus Rosenberg, who is suspended, as well as central defender Rasmus Bengtsson who is out injured. Malmö haven’t scored away from home in the Champions League and even though Real Madrid are resting players, they have such strength in depth in the squad that the visitors are likely to struggle to find the net once again.

The reverse fixture ended in a 2-0 win for Real Madrid and we are not surprised if it gets even worse for Malmö here.
