Dynamo Kiev vs Maccabi Tel-Aviv
Dynamo Kiev will secure a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League with a win against Maccabi Tel-Aviv tonight. Sergiy Rebrov’s men are in excellent form and on a five-game winning streak in all competitions. Defensively they have been particularly solid, conceding only a single goal in those five matches. In fact, Dynamo have kept clean sheets in 18 of their 25 matches this season and go confidently into tonight’s clash with the Israeli outfit. If Kiev are able to secure a place in the last 16 of the Champions League it will be the first time 16 years for them to do so, however it will be the same man between the sticks now as back then, the evergreen Oleksandr Shovkovsky.
Maccabi Tel-Aviv is the only team without a point in this season’s Champions League. They are not only without points, they have only found the net once in five matches while conceding 15. In their last Champions League outing they were trashed 0-4 at home to Chelsea and have nothing but pride to play for tonight. They will also be without defender Tal Ben Haim who is suspended as well as striker Dejan Radonjic who is out injured. Slavisa Jokanovic side will more likely focus on the domestic league where they are fighting with Hapoel Be’er Sheva over the league title. We can see them struggling for goals once again against a very defensively sound Kiev side.
