Scotland vs Poland
Scotland need to go for a win in tonight’s Euro qualifier against Poland if they are going to have any chance of reaching the finals in France next year. They currently hold fourth spot in the group behind Germany, Poland and Republic of Ireland and are hoping they can force their way into top three and a playoff spot in the end. They were brave in their 2-3 defeat at home to Germany early September and Gordon Strachan is hoping his in form strikers will produce the goods tonight. He’s actually facing somewhat of a selection dilemma as Jordan Rhodes is scoring goals for fun in the Championship (7 goals in last 5 games) while preferred striker so far Steven Fletcher also scored on the weekend for Sunderland. He also has Leigh Griffiths and Chris Martin to turn to, both in good form. In other words there should be goals in the team and they have in fact scored in all of their qualifiers at home this campaign.
Poland are not exactly goal shy either, scoring 29 goals in 8 qualifiers, most of all teams in group D. 15 of them has come against Gibraltar but they have also put four past Georgia, both home and away, as well as two past Germany at home. With Robert Lewandowski in goal scoring form for Bayern Munich not many think he will leave any pitch without a goal to his name. Playing away in Scotland can always be intimidating but we believe Poland has both the experience and class to handle it with ease.
It was 2-2 when the teams met in the reverse fixture in Warsaw almost a year ago and we believe both teams are likely to score tonight again.
