Slovenia vs Lithuania
Slovenia still has a chance of claiming an automatic spot for next year’s Euro in France. They are third in the group behind England and Switzerland, trailing the Swiss by only three points. Tonight they can welcome 36-year old striker Milivoje Nocakovic, who scored both goals in Slovenia’s 2-0 win in the reverse fixture in Vilnius, back to the squad after recovering from the injury he picked up against Switzerland last month. Slovenia have won three of their four last qualifiers at home and chances are good they will pick up another win tonight.
Lithuania started their qualification campaign with two straight wins (San Marino and Estonia) but have since really struggled against the better teams in the group. They’ve lost heavily to both England and Switzerland and it took a 92nd minute winner from Lukas Spalvis to get all three points at home to San Marino a month ago. Tonigh’t they are missing suspended first choice keeper Giedrius Arlauskis and national team coach Igoris Pankratjevas has called up two uncapped players. That means he might shift his pack in order to give less experienced players a run when their hopes of qualifying are all but over anyways.
