FC Botosani vs Petrolul Ploiesti
FC Botosani have started 2016 with three straight narrow defeats and now need to get back to winning ways when the relegation round of the Romanian first division starts tonight. The relegation round consists of the 7 to 14th placed teams during the regular season and Botosani ended up a disappointing 10th and will now have fight to stay in the division. It has been the performances away from home that has let the team down this season, at Stadionul Municipal they have only lost three times all season (against three of the top teams) and won three of their last four. Botosani boss Cristian Pustai knows the importance of the game and will have his team properly prepared. He has no injuries or suspension to worry about and the only small doubt is Dan Roman who will be tested before kick-off.
Petrolul Ploiesti has without a doubt been the disappointment of the season having picked up only eight of 78 points during the regular season. They have seven straight defeats in the league and are without a win away from home all season. To add to the problem, two players have been suspended by Petrolul Constantin Schumacher due to lack of determination and attitude. Midfielders Laurentiu Marinescu and Dacian Varga will not play for the club again after being sent to train with the juniors. They will also miss injured duo Marian Beta and Alexandru David and new signing Victoras Astafei who is not likely to have his work permit issued in time.
