Steaua Bucharest vs ACS Poli Timisoara
Last year’s Romanian champions Steaua Bucharest have not had the best of seasons to date and are only fifth in the table with half the season gone. Things have started to improve though after Laurențiu Reghecampf returned to the club (he also coached Steaua 2012-2014) and took over the reigns in the beginning of December. They now have three straight wins in all competitions and with an already strong home record they are the clear favorites in tonight’s clash with ACS Poli Timisoara. Reghecampf hope to go on winter break with four consecutive wins and close the gap on the league leaders Astra. We believe they have all the attributes to do just that.
ACS Poli Timisoara sit 11th in the table and is one of only two teams, the other being bottom of the table Petrolul, who still haven’t won away from home this season. In all honesty they haven’t lost that many games either, 7 of 11 away games have in fact been draws. They lost on penalties against Targu Mures on Tuesday in a hard fought battle but should have had sufficient time to recoever from that. It’s still very difficult to see them getting anything from tonight’s clash against a rejuvenated home side.
